PATNA: Bihar government on Saturday recommended a CBI probe into the murder of BJP MLA Raj Kishore Keshari in Purnia. Earlier in the day, the proposal was sent by the state home department to chief minister Nitish Kumar.
The CM gave his assent to the proposal which has been sent to the CBI. The decision came amid widespread demand for a CBI probe into Keshari's murder on January 4 in full public view by a woman, Rupam Pathak. She had stabbed the Purnia MLA to death.
Bihar DGP Neelmani said, ''The state government has decided to hand over the inquiry to CBI.'' With mounting pressure, deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi had come out in favour of a CBI inquiry into Keshari's murder.
