Five Years Old  DMDK Big Gains at PMK,VCK

 

 

Riding high on the anti-incumbency wave, the five-year-old DMDK, led by actor-turned-politician Vijayakanth, has made huge inroads into the Vanniyar heartland, causing considerable damage to the PMK and its dalit ally VCK.

The party emerged as the second largest party in the 14th Tamil Nadu assembly. Out of the 41 segments it contested, the DMDK has won in 27 seats and is leading in two others.

Of them, 23 are in northern and western regions of the state, considered PMK strongholds. In fact, the PMK's success rate is just 10% — it has won or is leading only in 3 of the 30 seats it contested. The VCK has been routed.
Significantly, the PMK will lose the state party status. Vijayakanth described the electoral outcome as a victory over "money and muscle power."

Since its electoral debut, winning Vriddhachalam assembly segment in the 2006 assembly polls, the DMDK has been steadily cutting into the Vanniyar and dalit vote banks, once considered unassailable. Several of the PMK district functionaries joined the DMDK. Exodus of youth from the party fold to the DMDK caused heartburns to PMK founder S Ramadoss and VCK leader Thirumavalavan. To undo the damage and bring back the youth into his fold, Ramadoss' son Anbumani, over the past one year, had been organizing study camps in villages.

Despite forging a Vanniyar-dalit alliance to ward off the DMDK's threat, election results show caste equations failed to salvage the PMK and the VCK. Analysts feel the decades-old strife between the two caste groups could have played a role in their debacle.

In six segments where the DMDK took the PMK head-on, the party has won in four seats. Similarly, the DMDK defeated the VCK in Thittakudi, the lone segment where they tested strengths against each other.

While Ramadoss and Thirumavalavan sought to rekindle caste feelings in northern districts all through the campaign, Vijayakanth relentlessly tried to douse it. The actor also repeatedly hit out at the PMK, calling it a casteist party. Over the years, the PMK's vote share has not seen any remarkable change. It got 5.65% votes in 2006 and 5.72% votes in 2009.

The DMDK, on the contrary, has been steadily improving its vote share. The party secured 8.38% votes in 2006 and 10.08% in 2009.

Former chief minister N Rangasamy led the AINRC he formed on the eve of the polls to power with the party winning 15 seats and its ally AIADMK five.

Congress ended with a tally of seven and DMK two. DMK rebel VMC Shivakumar won the Neravi TR Pattinam segment.

It was a sweet revenge for Rangasamy who floated his own outfit after quitting RPT quitting Congress about two years after he was removed as chief minister in the face of revolt against his leadership.

Rangasamy, named the chief ministerial candidate of the AINRC-AIADMK front, emerged victorious from both Kadirgamam and Indira Nagar constituencies that he contested.

Chief minister V Vaithilingam, who succeeded Rangasamy, won but welfare minister M Kandasamy and PWD minister MOHF Shajahan lost as also assembly speaker R Radhakrishnan.

A jubilant Rangasamy said the outcome was a verdict by people and he would soon decide when to meet the Lt Governor and stake claim for forming the government.

CPI, CPI(M) and DMDK, which were part of the AINRC led alliance, however drew a blank contesting one seat each.

In the Congress front, PMK lost both the seats it contested and VCK tasted defeat in the lone seat it was allocated.

All India NR Congress floated by former chief minister N Rangasamy after quitting the Congress ahead of the 2011 polls emerged as the single largest party by winning 15 of the 17 seats it contested. Its ally AIADMK bagged five of the 10 it contested. 


However, its other allies, DMDK and CPI, that contested one seat each drew a blank. A jubilant Rangasamy while speaking to reporters said he expected his alliance to win the polls and added that the victory was the wish of the Puducherry people.

The Congress alliance managed to secure just nine seats. Congress won just seven of the 17 seats it contested. The DMK fared poorly, winning two of the 10 seats it contested. PMK drew a blank losing both the seats it contested. Another ally, VCK, whose candidate was technically declared as an independent, also lost the polls.

Rangasamy, who contested from two assembly segments, emerged victorious with thumping margins. He polled 16,323 votes from Kadirkamam as against 6,566 votes polled by the next candidate V Pethaperumal of the Congress. He polled 20,685 votes in Indira Nagar as against 4,008 votes polled by his only rival candidate V Aroumougam of Congress.

Other prominent winners include chief minister V Vaithilingam, home minister E Valsaraj, revenue minister Malladi Krishna Rao and public health minister A Namassivayam.

PWD minister MOHF Shahjahan, welfare minister M Kandasamy, speaker of legislative assembly R Radhakrishnan and former chief minister and DMK convener RV Janakiraman lost the electoral battle.

Shahjahan lost the polls to PML Kalyanasundaram of NR Congress by 6,366 votes and Kandasamy to his arch-rival and former minister P Rajavelu of NR Congress by a slender margin of 1,468 votes.

Radhakrishnan lost the polls to T Thiagarajan by 2,055 votes. Five-time MLA Janakiraman lost to AIADMK candidate Om Sakthi Sekar by a margin of 4,518 votes. 


Malladi Krishna Rao (Yanam) recorded the highest margin of victory in this election with 19,118 votes followed by Rangasamy (Indira Nagar) with 16,677 votes while an independent candidate, VMC Sivakumar, managed to win with a slender margin of 358 votes.

மதுரை திருமங்கலம் அருகே, காங்கேய நத்தத்தில் விஜயகாந்தின் குல தெய்வமான வீர சின்னம்மாள் கோவில் உள்ளது. அரசியலில் முக்கிய முடிவுகளை அவர் எடுக்கும் முன் இங்கு அவர் சாமி தரிசனம் செய்வது வழக்கம். நேற்று காலை விஜயகாந்த் தனது மனைவி பிரமேலதா, மகன்களுடன் கோவிலுக்கு வந்தார்.

மதுரையில் இருந்தபோது விஜயகாந்தை திமுக தென் மண்டல பொறுப்பாளரும் மத்திய அமைச்சருமான மு.க.அழகிரியின் சார்பில் திமுக மாவட்டச் செயலாளர் சந்தித்துப் பேசியதாகவும், விஜய்காந்தின் இந்த மதுரை பயணத்துக்கு முன்பே அவரது சகோதரியும் கணவரும் அழகிரியை சந்தித்துப் பேசியதாகவும் கூறப்படுவது குறிப்பிடத்தக்கது.

தேமுதிக வந்தால் தான் கொஞ்சமாவது வெற்றிக்கு வாய்ப்பு என்ற நிலையில் அதிமுக உள்ள நிலையில் விஜய்காந்தை அழகிரி தரப்பில் சந்தித்து என்ன பேசினர் என்று தெரியவில்லை. இதனால் தேமுதிக அதிமுகவுடன் கூட்டணி வைக்குமா அல்லது தனித்துப் போட்டியிடுமா என்ற கேள்விக் குழப்பம் தொடர்கிறது.

The ruling DMK in Tamil Nadu has signed an electoral pact with the S Ramadoss-led PMK on Friday, allotting 31 assembly seats in the ensuing elections to the PMK. The PMK also gets a Rajya Sabha seat. 

The PMK leader said he had gone to invite the DMK leader for his grandson's wedding. "It was a happy meeting with a happy end. We have been given 31 assembly seats and a Rajya Sabha seats," he told reporters outside Karunanidhi's Gopalapuram residence in Chennai.

PMK was part of the DMK-led Democratic Progressive Alliance in the 2006 assembly elections. PMK had then contested the same number of 31 seats and won 18 of them. The two parties have had a difficult relationship after the PMK parted ways with the DMK in July, after being a vociferous opposition within the alliance. PMK contested the 2009 Lok Sabha elections as an ally of the AIADMK, but drew a blank.

As the 2011 Assembly elections were nearing, Ramadoss send confusing signals to the DMK. Last month, when Karunanidhi said PMK was with him, Ramadoss criticised the DMK leader for unilaterally making the announcement. Karunanidhi hit back, saying his doors were closed on the PMK, and that anyway the Congress leadership did not want Ramadoss in the alliance. Ramadoss moved quickly in Delhi for a rapprochement. The final patch-up came after Ramadoss' son and former health minister in UPA-I Anbumani Ramadoss met Sonia Gandhi on Thursday. 

After its formation in 1989, PMK contested four elections on its own, winning just one seat in the 1991 assembly and four in 1996. Since then, the party had alternated between the two Dravidian parties as allies. In the 1998 Lok Sabha polls, it tied up with AIADMK and won four seats. In the general elections the following year, PMK partnered with DMK and won five seats.

In the 2001 assembly polls, Ramadoss was back with Jayalalithaa and bagged 18 seats. Three years later, PMK went back to the DMK fold to fight the 2004 Lok Sabha elections and won six seats. The party got national exposure with Anbumani becoming the Union health minister. The alliance continued for the 2006 assembly elections in which the party won 18 seats. In the 2009 Lok Sabha polls, PMK jumped fence to ally with AIADMK, but could not win a seat. PMK, which enjoys the support of the OBC Vanniyars, enjoys about 10% of the vote share in the northern states of Tamil Nadu. The party is considered a decisive factor in about 40 assembly constituencies and eight Lok Sabha constituencies in the state.

According to a report, Ajith had called up Vijay recently and congratulated the Numero Uno (in waiting) of Tamil Cinema Vijay for his performance in 'Villu'. The report said that Ajith had been to a drive-in theater in Chennai's East Coast Road and watched the Prabhu Deva directed 'Villu'. The star of 'Billa' was impressed with Villu's action sequences and offered his congratulations. He even reportedly asked Vijay to make sure certain safety measures were adhered to while performing stunts.

Both Vijay and Ajith have been in competition for a long time now and are approaching their respective fifty films. However, both stars have been struggling to deliver consistent hits mainly due to their preference of one-man-army roles with next to nothing script and screenplay.

The slow but sure emergence of new directors in Tamil Cinema who put the art of story telling ahead of an individual's screen image might hamper both their styles of filmmaking in the future.

Balwa, arrested in Mumbai late Tuesday by the Central Bureau of Investigation

Balwa, arrested in Mumbai late Tuesday by the Central Bureau of Investigation, was presented before a court on Wednesday morning and was then taken to the Mumbai airport for a flight to New Delhi. 

The CBI nabbed Balwa following an arrest warrant issued by a New Delhi court.

In its remand application, CBI said Balwa's company Swan Telecom, which allegedly got favours in the spectrum allocation, had caused the national exchequer a loss of over Rs.22,000 crore.

It further said that Balwa allegedly conspired with private companies to sell 2G spectrum licences acquired at a cheap rate by Swan Telecom -- part of DB Realty -- to a company in the Gulf at a huge profit.

Balwa became the fourth person -- and the first who is not a government official -- to be arrested in connection with the scam.

Former communications minister A. Raja and two of his aides are under arrest. The scam relates to irregularities in the allocation of second generation spectrum to telecom companies when Raja was the minister.

Swan Telecom is one of the companies that allegedly benefited from the spectrum allocation. It was part of Mumbai-based DB Realty, which has since then become Etisalat DB.

Three more one-day hundreds in the World Cup climaxing in his native Mumbai on April 2 would make him the only batsman to total 100 centuries over both forms of the game, a landmark which like Bradman’s test average of 99.94 would probably last forever.
“I still want to achieve something and everyone knows that,” Tendulkar, 37, said last month at a ceremony to celebrate India’s number one spot in the world test rankings.
SPIN RULES
Fourteen teams have been divided into two groups for the tournament, co-hosted by India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, with the top four from each division advancing to the quarter-finals. The first round follows a week of warmup matches, further extending an already overlong competition, and on paper looks soporifically predictable.
In Group A, defending champions Australia, New Zealand, Pakistan and Sri Lanka would have to seriously under-perform to miss qualifying ahead of Zimbabwe, Canada and Kenya.
Group B holds marginally more interest. Bangladesh barely hold their own in test cricket but they can be a force in the one-day game, especially on their own pitches as a 4-0 drubbing of New Zealand late last year testified.
With a host of slow, naggingly accurate bowlers on sluggish pitches, Bangladesh could well qualify at the expense of West Indies in a group including India, England, South Africa, Ireland and the Netherlands.
The explosion in the one-day game in India, which made the country the richest and most powerful nation in world cricket, followed their upset win over West Indies in the 1983 final under the inspired captaincy of all-rounder Kapil Dev.
At subsequent World Cups they have not played to their potential, reaching only one other final when they were demolished by an outstanding Australian side in 2003.
To exploit home advantage, India have packed their side with full- and part-time spinners in the knowledge that when the knockout stages eventually get away in late March temperatures will be soaring and the pitches will deteriorate faster.
MURALITHARAN DEPARTS
The other leading contenders have reached the same conclusion with even South Africa, who have historically viewed spin bowling with deep suspicion, naming three slow bowlers.
South Africa possess a modern-day master in all-rounder Jacques Kallis, whose averages stand comparison with those of Garfield Sobers. They will again field a confident, aggressive side but have consistently failed to convert potential into performance at the World Cup.
Australia, emphatic champions in the last three tournaments, were trounced by England in the Ashes but won the subsequent one-day series with Shane Watson batting with muscular authority at the top of the order and a revitalised Brett Lee bowling at express pace.
For their part, England have enjoyed a wonderful 12 months, starting with their first major one-day title in the Caribbean last year when they won the Twenty20 World Cup. The 50-overs World Cup is the next target en route to their goal of becoming world number one in both test and one-day cricket.
Pakistan remain possibly the most talented but certainly the most unpredictable team in world cricket and if anybody is to deny India it may be another of the sub-continental sides.
Muttiah Muralitharan, the highest wicket-taker in both test and one-day cricket, will play domestic cricket only after the tournament.

Before then he will strain every sinew in his elastic right arm to help Sri Lanka, who demonstrated strength in depth in their one-day series triumph over Australia before the Ashes, to emulate their 1996 World Cup victory.
“This World Cup will be my last outing,” Muralitharan, 38, said. “My time is up. This is my fourth World Cup.”
“We won in 1996 and came close in 2007 by reaching the final. This would be a memorable one for me and for Sri Lankan fans.”

ஜி ஸ்பெக்ட்ரம் இமாலய ஊழல் வழக்கில் முதல்வர் கருணாநிதியும் குற்றவாளியாக சேர்க்கப்பட வேண்டும் என்று ஜனதா கட்சித் தலைவர் சுப்பிரமணிய சாமி நீதிமன்றத்தில் விடுத்த கோரிக்கையை முழுவதுமாக ஆதரிக்கிறேன் என்று அதிமுக பொதுச் செயலாளர் ஜெயலலிதா கூறியுள்ளார்.
இதுகுறித்து அதிமுக பொதுச் செயலாளர் ஜெயலலிதா வெளியிட்டுள்ள அறிக்கையில் கூறியுள்ளதாவது:-

2ஜி ஸ்பெக்ட்ரம் ஊழலில் பயனடைந்த நிறுவனங்களில் ஒன்றான மும்பையைச் சேர்ந்த டி.பி. ரியால்ட்டி என்கிற கட்டுமான நிறுவனத்திலிருந்து ஒரு மிகப் பெரிய தொகை சென்னையைச் சேர்ந்த கலைஞர் தொலைக்காட்சிக்கு மாற்றப்பட்டு இருக்கிறது. இந்தத் தொலைக்காட்சியின் 60 சதவீத பங்குகள் முதல்வர் கருணாநிதியின் மனைவி தயாளுவின் வசமும், 20 சதவீத பங்குகள் மகள் கனிமொழியின் வசமும் இருக்கின்றன என்ற செய்தியில் ஆச்சரியப்படுவதற்கு ஒன்றுமில்லை. பேரன் தயாநிதி மாறனுக்கு மத்திய மந்திரி பதவி வாங்கித் தருவதற்காக அவரிடமிருந்து ரூ. 600 கோடியை பெற்றவர் தான் இந்தத் தயாளு என்று நீரா ராடியா கூறியுள்ளார்.
முன்னாள் தொலைத் தொடர்புத் துறை அமைச்சர் ராசாவின் திரைமறைவு ஊழலுக்கு ஆதரவு தெரிவிக்கும் வகையில் கருணாநிதி தொடர்ந்து பேசுவதிலிருந்து, நாட்டிற்கு 1 லட்சத்து 76 ஆயிரம் கோடி ரூபாய் இழப்பை ஏற்படுத்திய 2ஜி ஸ்பெக்ட்ரம் ஊழலின் மிகப் பெரிய பயனாளிகளில் கருணாநிதியும் ஒருவர் என்பது தெளிவாகிறது. எனவே, 2ஜி ஸ்பெக்ட்ரம் இமாலய ஊழல் வழக்கில் கருணாநிதியும் குற்றவாளியாக சேர்க்கப்பட வேண்டும் என்று சுப்பிரமணிய சாமி நீதிமன்றத்தில் விடுத்த கோரிக்கையை முழுவதுமாக ஆதரிக்கிறேன்.
இந்தக் கோரிக்கைக்கான காரணங்களும், ஆதாரங்களும் பின்வருமாறு:
கருணாநிதியின் மகள் என்ற ஒரே காரணத்தால் கனிமொழி இன்று பல ஆயிரம் கோடி ரூபாய்க்கு அதிபதி. கனிமொழி மற்றும் அவரது தாயார் ராசாத்திக்கு சொந்தமான வெஸ்ட்கேட் லாஜிஸ்டிக்ஸ் என்கிற கப்பல் நிறுவனம், பினாமிகளின் பெயர்களின் வாங்கப்பட்ட பல கல்வி நிறுவனங்கள், பினாமிகளின் பெயரில் தென் இந்தியா முழுவதும் வரவிருக்கும் ரூ.4,000 கோடி மதிப்பிலான ஐந்து நட்சத்திர ஓட்டல்கள் அனைத்தும் கனிமொழியின் நெருங்கிய நண்பர் ராசாவால் 2ஜி ஸ்பெக்ட்ரம் ஊழல் நிகழ்த்தப்பட்ட பிறகு குவிக்கப்பட்ட சொத்துக்கள்.
தமிழ்ப் பண்பாட்டை ஊக்குவிக்கும் கலாச்சார விழாக்களை ஆண்டுதோறும் சென்னையில் நடத்தும் பொறுப்பை, கனிமொழி மற்றும் அவரது நெருங்கிய கூட்டாளி ஜெகத் கஸ்பர் ஆகியோரால் நிர்வகிக்கப்பட்டு வரும் தமிழ் மையத்திடம் மாநில அரசு ஒப்படைத்தது. இந்த நிறுவனம் சென்னை சங்கமம் என்ற பெயரில் கலாச்சார விழாக்களை நடத்தி வருகிறது. தமிழ் மையம் என்கிற இந்த அமைப்பிற்கு ராசாவால் ஸ்பெக்ட்ரம் உரிமங்களை பெற்ற நிறுவனங்கள் மூலம் ஏராளமான நன்கொடைகள் வந்து கொண்டிருக்கின்றன. வழக்கமாக வெளிநாடுகளுக்கு பயணிக்கும் கஸ்பர், கனிமொழி மற்றும் அவரது தாயாரால் கொள்ளையடிக்கப்பட்ட கோடிக்கணக்கான பணத்தை வெளிநாடுகளில் உள்ள வரி ஏய்ப்பு புகலிடங்களுக்கு சென்று சேர்ப்பதில் கை தேர்ந்தவர் என்று கூறப்படுகிறது.
கனிமொழியின் தாயார் ராசாத்தியின் வீட்டில் பணிபுரிபவர்களின் நிதி நிலைமையை கவனித்தாலே ராசாத்தியின் நிதி நிலைமை எந்த அளவுக்கு இருக்கும் என்பதை அறிந்து கொள்ளலாம். ராசாத்திக்கு சொந்தமான ராயல் எண்டர்பிரைசஸ் என்ற அறைகலன் காட்சியகத்தில் பெருக்குபவராக பணிபுரிந்து வந்த சரவணன் என்பவர், பின் அதே நிறுவனத்தின் மேலாளர் ஆனார். சென்னை அண்ணா சாலையில் உள்ள சர்ச்சைக்குரிய ரூ.350 கோடி மதிப்புடைய வோல்டாஸ் நிலம் மலேசியாவைச் சேர்ந்த சண்முகநாதன் என்பவருக்கு வெறும் ரூ.25 கோடிக்கு விற்கப்பட்ட போது தரகராக செயல்பட்டவர் தான் இந்த சரவணன். இந்தச் செய்தி அண்மையில் பத்திரிகைகளிலும் வெளி வந்துள்ளது. இது குறித்து தனக்கு எதுவுமே தெரியாது என்று வெளிப்படையாக தெரிவித்த ராசாத்தி, இந்த நிலம் குறித்த தனது கவலையை நீரா ராடியாவுடனான தொலைபேசி உரையாடலில் தெரிவித்து இருக்கிறார். சொற்ப விலைக்கு வோல்டாஸ் நிலத்தை வாங்கிய மலேசியாவைச் சேர்ந்த சண்முகநாதன் தான், கோத்தகிரியில் உள்ள 500 ஏக்கர் பரப்பளவிலான தேயிலைத் தோட்டத்தை வெறும் ரூ.2.5 கோடிக்கு வாங்கி இருக்கிறார்!

கருணாநிதி குடும்பத்தினரின் தேவையை பூர்த்தி செய்த கைப்பாவையாக, கருவியாகச் செயல்பட்டவர் தான் ராசா. இதன் பின்னணியில் உள்ள முக்கியஸ்தர்களும் சட்டத்தின் முன் நிறுத்தப்பட வேண்டும். 2ஜி ஸ்பெக்ட்ரம் ஊழல் விசாரணையின் ஒவ்வொரு பகுதியையும், திருப்பத்தையும் உச்ச நீதிமன்றம் கண்காணிப்பதால், நீதி நிலை நிறுத்தப்படும் என்றும், கொள்ளையடிக்கப்பட்ட பணம் முழுவதுமாக திரும்ப மீட்கப்படும் என்றும், குற்றவாளிகள் சட்டத்தின் முன் நிறுத்தப்படுவார்கள் என்றும் நான் நம்புகிறேன். அதே சமயத்தில், மத்திய புலனாய்வுத் துறை மற்றும் இதர புலனாய்வு அமைப்புகளுக்கு சுதந்திரமாகச் செயல்படுவதற்கு இது போன்ற பரவலான அதிகாரங்கள் வழங்கப்பட்டு உள்ளதா என்பது தான் தற்போதைய கேள்வி.
அரசியல் வேறுபாடுகளைக் கடந்து, மற்ற எதிர்க்கட்சித் தலைவர்களுடன் இணைந்து, இந்த ஊழல் குறித்து விசாரிக்க நாடாளுமன்ற கூட்டுக் குழு அமைக்கப்பட வேண்டும் என நான் தொடர்ந்து வலியுறுத்து வருகிறேன். இந்த ஊழலில் மறைப்பதற்கு ஏதுமில்லை என்று காங்கிரஸ் தலைமை கருதினால், நாடாளுமன்ற கூட்டுக் குழு அமைக்கப்பட வேண்டும் என்ற நியாயமான கோரிக்கையை ஏற்க வேண்டும். இவ்வாறு ஜெயலலிதா கூறியுள்ளா

பூந்தமல்லி, செங்கல்பட்டில் உள்ள அகதிகள் முகாம்களை இழுத்துப் பூட்டும் போராட்டம் எனது தலைமையில் பிப்ரவரி இறுதியில் நடைபெறும் என்று நாம் தமிழர் கட்சியின் தலைவர் சீமான் தெரிவித்துள்ளார்.

பூந்தமல்லி, செங்கல்பட்டில் அகதிகள் முகாம்கள் என்ற பெயரில் தமிழக அரசு சட்ட விரோதமாக சித்ரவதைக் கூடங்களை நடத்துகின்றது. மேற்கண்ட இரண்டு முகாம்களும் இலங்கை கொடுங்கோலன் ராசபக்சேவின் மீள்குடியேற்ற முகாமினை விட மோசமாக உள்ளது. ஆடு, மாடுகளை அடைக்கும் கொட்டகையை விட மிக கேவலமாக அடிப்படை வசதிகள் ஏதுமற்ற இடத்தில் அங்கு தமிழர்கள் அடைக்கப்பட்டுள்ளார்கள். செங்கல்பட்டு முகாமில் 23 தமிழர்களும் பூந்தமல்லியில் 4 தமிழர்களும் அடைக்கப்பட்டுள்ளனர். மேற்கண்ட முகாம்களில் அடைத்து வைக்கப்பட்டு இருப்பவர்கள் குற்ற வழக்கிலிருந்து விடுவிக்கப்பட்டும், உரிய முறையில் பிணை பெற்றும் இருக்கின்றனர். ஆனால் தமிழக அரசு அவர்களை சட்டத்திற்குப் புறம்பாக முகாம் என்ற பெயரில் அங்கு அடைத்து வைத்துள்ளது.
முகாம்களில் உள்ளவர்களை உறவினர்களோ, வழக்கறிஞரோ பார்க்க வேண்டும் என்றால் அரசின் அனுமதி பெற வேண்டும். அது என்றும் கிடைப்பது இல்லை. அதிலும் பூந்தமல்லி முகாம் அமைந்துள்ள இடம் ராஜீவ்காந்தி கொலை வழக்கில் கைது செய்யப்பட்டவர்களை அடைத்து வைப்பதற்கான உயர் பாதுகாப்பு சிறையாக இருந்த இடமாகும். அங்கு முகாமினைச் சுற்றிலும் மதில் மேல் மின்சாரம் பாய்ச்சப்பட்டுள்ளது. உள் இருக்கும் ஒவ்வொரு அறையும் நாஜிகளின் சித்ரவதைக்கூடம் போல் இருக்கிறது. முகாமிற்கு மேற்கூரை என்று எதும் இல்லை. கம்பிகள் தான் வேயப்பட்டுள்ளது. கடும் வெயிலோ பெரு மழையோ, குளிரோ அப்படியே உள்ளே இருப்பவர்களைப் பாதிக்கிறது. முகாமினைச் சுற்றிலும் நூற்றுக்கணக்கில் காவலர்கள், உளவுத்துறையினர் நிறுத்தப்பட்டு அந்த இடம் பயங்கரமாகக் காட்சி அளிக்கிறது. மேலும் தமிழக அரசின் இந்த செயலானது மனித நேயத்திற்கு முற்றிலும் எதிரான செயல். சிறையை விடக் கொடுமையாக இருக்கும் இடத்தை முகாம் என்று கூறி அடைத்து வைக்க அரசுக்கு அதிகாரம் இல்லை.
தற்பொழுது பூந்தமல்லியில் உள்ள தமிழர்கள் தங்களை விடுவிக்க வேண்டும் என்ற தங்கள் நியாயமான கோரிக்கையை வலியுறுத்தி 5 ஆவது நாளாக உண்ணாவிரதம் இருக்கின்றனர். ஒருவர் மருத்துவமனையில் அனுமதிக்கப்பட்டு உயிருக்குப் போராடிக் கொண்டிருக்கிறார். அங்குள்ளவர்கள் தங்கள் கோரிக்கையை வலியுறுத்திப் போராட்டம் நடத்தும் பொழுதெல்லாம் கண்துடைப்பாக ஏதாவது செய்து பிரச்சினையை அரசும் அங்குள்ள அதிகாரிகளும் திசை திருப்புகின்றனர். அவர்களை விடுவிக்க மறுக்கின்றனர். இந்த அவல நிலை தொடராமல் இருக்க நாம் தமிழர் கட்சி சார்பில் பிப்ரவரி இறுதியில் பூந்தமல்லி, செங்கல்பட்டில் உள்ள அகதிகள் முகாம்களை இழுத்துப் பூட்டும் போராட்டம் எனது தலைமையில் நடைபெறும். இவ்வாறு சீமான் கூறியுள்ளார்.

Suarez, a 22.6 million pounds ($36.5 million) transfer deadline day signing from Ajax, needed just 16 minutes to open his goal account after Dirk Kuyt's pass had split the Stoke defence wide open. 

That made it 2-0 after Raul Meireles had set Liverpool on their way to a third straight clean sheet league win in the 47th minute.

Liverpool head to Chelsea and a reunion with their former striker Fernando Torres on Sunday just two points behind sixth-placed Sunderland.

Despite all the changes of the previous few days there was a familiar look to Liverpool's starting line up.

There was a huge cheer for Andy Carroll, the 35 million pounds deadline day arrival from Newcastle, as he was introduced to the crowd before the start.

Wearing a smart suit and sporting his trademark pony tail, Carroll saluted all four corners before taking his seat in the main stand, a thigh problem putting his eagerly-anticipated debut on hold for a few weeks.

Suarez was also absent from the start, the Uruguay striker's lack of match practice following a lengthy ban in Holland meaning his first appearance in a Liverpool shirt would be from the substitutes bench.

With Torres gone without managing to win a medal during his three-and-a-half years on Merseyside, it was left to Kuyt to spearhead the attack on his own.

Yet it was Liverpool defenders Sotirios Kyrgiakos and Glen Johnson who went closest to breaking the deadlock in a patchy first half display.

Salif Diao, the former Liverpool player, made a vital clearance off the line to deny Kyrgiakos in the sixth minute while Johnson's powerful 38th minute header brought a stunning one-handed save from Stoke goalkeeper Asmir Begovic. 





That was as good as it got for Dalglish's side in the first half.

Kuyt produced a typically busy performance and also forced Begovic into a smart stop, but Liverpool lacked cutting edge.

It was proving a productive encounter for returning Liverpool players.

As well as Diao, Jermaine Pennant also teased his former club, the winger supplying an inch-perfect 22nd minute cross which John Carew should have diverted into the goal.

It spoke volumes about Liverpool's performance that the biggest roar in the opening 45 minutes was reserved for the sight of Suarez warming up.

But the second half was barely a minute old when the supporters had genuine reason to cheer, Meireles burying his third goal for the club after Stoke's defence had failed to properly clear Steven Gerrard's shot.

That should have given the hosts the momentum to go on and kill the game, but instead they struggled to kick on and survived an almighty scare when Carew fired narrowly wide in the 61st minute after slack home defending.

The moment Liverpool fans had waited for arrived in the 64th minute, Suarez climbing off the bench to partner Kuyt in attack after replacing Fabio Aurelio.

And in a fairytale start for his new club, Suarez required just 16 minutes to make an immediate impact as he held his nerve to go round Begovic before rolling a shot towards goal which found the net despite Andy Wilkinson's desperate attempts to keep it out.

Raja arrested a purely political decision: Jayalalithaa

IADMK chief J Jayalalithaa today (Feb 2) said the arrest of former Telecom Minister A Raja in the 2G spectrum scam raised more questions than answers and alleged that it was a "purely political" decision keeping in mind Tamil Nadu Assembly polls.

She also demanded the arrest of others, including immediate family members of Chief Minister M Karunanidhi, allegedly involved in the scam and said her party will not give up its demand for a Joint Parliamentary Committee probe into the scam despite Raja's arrest.

Asked whether the arrest had something to do with Congress and DMK firming up their alliance with the visit of Karunanidhi to Delhi two days ago, she said the whole thing looked "very artificial and deeply suspicious". She believed that the decision to arrest Raja was taken keeping in mind the Assembly elections in Tamil Nadu. It was a "purely political" decision, she said.

"Raja's arrest raises more questions than it answers and many questions have been left unanswered. This arrest can be described only as an action too little, too late," she said. Alleging that the action came three years late, she said, "The government would have arrested him three years ago, at least two years, one year or even when the Supreme Court asked why Raja was not arrested."

She said the government was contradicting itself as its different arms were giving contradictory statements. "The government has contradicted itself. CAG says the allocation has led to enormous loss to the tune of Rs 1.76 lakh crore.

"But, Telecom Minister Kapil Sibal, whom I presume spoke on behalf of the government, claims that Raja did not cause any loss to the exchequer and even came up with an argument of zero loss. But then why did CBI, another arm of the government, arrest him. If Raja had done nothing wrong, why has he been arrested?" the AIADMK leader posed.

ஜெர்மனி போன்ற நாடுகள், கறுப்பு பண முதலைகளின் விவரத்தை தெரிவிக்க முன்வந்துள்ளன. ஆனால் மத்திய அரசு அதை பெற முயற்சிக்கவில்லை. கறுப்பு பணம் வைத்திருப்பவர்களுக்கு எதிராக, பொத்தாம் பொதுவாக ஒரு முதல் தகவல் அறிக்கை பதிவு செய்ய வேண்டும். பஞ்சாப் தீவிரவாத விசயத்தில், இதுபோல் செய்யப்பட்டுள்ளது. தேசிய ஜனநாயக கூட்டணியைச் சேர்ந்த அரசியல் கட்சி தலைவர்கள், மேலிட நிர்வாகிகள், எம்.பி.க்கள் உள்ளிட்ட அனைத்து நிர்வாகிகளும் தங்களுக்கு வெளிநாட்டில் கறுப்பு பணம் இல்லை என்று மத்திய அரசிடம் தெரிவிக்க வேண்டும். இவ்வாறு அத்வானி கூறினார்.
அப்போது, உடனிருந்த அகாலி தளம் தலைவரும், பஞ்சாப் மாநில முதல்-மந்திரியுமான பிரகாஷ்சிங் பாதல், "தேசிய ஜனநாயக கூட்டணி முதல்-மந்திரிகள் தங்களது சொத்து கணக்கை அறிவிப்பதுடன், தங்களிடம் கறுப்பு பணம் இருந்தால் எடுத்துக் கொள்ளுமாறு அறிவிக்க வேண்டும்" என்று கூறினார்.
அப்போது நிருபர்கள், "கர்நாடக முதல்-மந்திரி எடியூரப்பாவும் சொத்து கணக்கு வெளியிட வேண்டுமா?" என்று அத்வானியிடம் கேட்டனர். அதற்கு அத்வானி, "அனைத்து பா.ஜனதா மற்றும் தேசிய ஜனநாயக கூட்டணி முதல்-மந்திரிகள், சொத்து கணக்கு வெளியிட வேண்டும்" என்று கூறினார். அத்வானி மேலும் கூறியதாவது:-

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Wednesday arrested former Telecom Minister A. Raja in connection with the 2G spectrum allocation case. Former Telecom Secretary Siddartha Behura and Mr. Raja’s former personal secretary R.K. Chandolia were also arrested.
The arrest comes after the questioning of Mr. Raja for the fourth time in connection with the funding and allegedly showing favours to some telecom companies in granting 2G spectrum between October 2007 and 2008.

Mr. Raja, who was questioned earlier on December 24 and 25 last year and January 31, was called to the CBI office on Wednesday morning and quizzed, official sources said.
Mr. Raja was on earlier occasions questioned at length on the circumstances leading to spectrum allocation which has been criticised severely by the Central Vigilance Commission and the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG).
He was also asked about his conversations with corporate lobbyist Niira Radia and the reasons of advancing the cut-off date of allocation of the spectrum in 2007.
The former Telecom Minister was forced to resign on November 14 last year in the wake of the CAG report which held that the spectrum allocation at undervalued prices resulted in a notional loss of Rs.1.76 lakh crore to the state exchequer.
Mr. Raja got the telecom portfolio on May 18, 2007 and was re-elected as a Member of the 15th Lok Sabha and continued as Telecom Minister from May 31, 2009, till November 14, 2010 before he tendered his resignation.

The Supreme Court has asked CBI and Enforcement Directorate to submit status reports on their investigations into the 2G spectrum case to it by February 10 when the case will come up for further hearing.
In its FIR, CBI mentioned the loss as Rs. 22,000 crore based on CVC findings which had referred the case to it.
Ms. Radia was quizzed by CBI last week as she had come under the scanner after her tapped telephonic conversations with various influential people including industrialists, politicians and journalists became public.

BJP dubbed the arrest of former Telecom Minister A Raja as "too little too late" and demanded that others involved in the 2G spectrum scam should also be brought to book. 

"The arrest is too little too late. It is very unfair to say that Raja alone had gulped Rs 1.76 lakh crore. Who are the rest of the people? BJP categorically wants to know that," party spokesperson Rajiv Pratap Rudy said.

He said Raja's arrest was just beginning of an exercise. "Please don't give credit to the government for the arrest. Government has to answer many questions before this finally comes to an end," he said.

இரத்தத்துடன் பரபரப்பாக ஆரம்பிக்கும் படம் உடனேயே முன்னோக்கி நகர்கிறது. பல வருடங்களாக தனது சேவல்களை வைத்து ஜெயித்து வருபவர் பேட்டைக்காரர். இவரிடம் ஆண்டாண்டு காலமாகத் தோற்பவர் ரத்தினம். ரத்தினம், தன் அம்மா இறப்பதற்குள் ஒரு முறையாவது பேட்டைக்காரரை ஜெயித்துவிடத் துடிக்கிறார். அதற்காக சில குழி பறிப்பு வேலைகளையும் செய்கிறார். பேட்டைக்காரனுக்கு பக்க பலமாக தனுஷ் மற்றும் கிஷோர்.
ஒருநாள் பேட்டைக்காரனின் நண்பன், ரத்தினம் குழுவால் கொல்லப்பட இறந்தவர் பேரில் ஒரு சேவல் சண்டை போட்டித்தொடர் நடத்தப்படுகிறது. இதில் இருதரப்பும் தங்கள் பகையைத் தீர்த்துக் கொள்ள களமிறங்குகிறது. இதற்காக பேட்டைக்காரர் பல சேவல்களைத் தயார்படுத்த, அதே நேரத்தில் தனுஷும் பேட்டைக்காரருக்காக தன் சேவலைத் தயார்படுத்துகிறான். அச்சேவல் ஏற்கனவே பேட்டைக்காரரால் கழித்துவிடப்பட்ட சேவல். இதனால் பேட்டைக்காரர் - தனுஷிற்கு இடையே பிரச்சினை வெடிக்கிறது. இருந்தும் தனுஷின் சேவல் வெற்றி பெற்றதோடு பெருந்தொகை பந்தயப் பணத்தையும் வெல்கிறது. ரத்தினம் ஏற்கனவே போட்டுக்கொண்ட பந்தய அடிப்படையில் மொட்டையடித்துக் கொள்கிறார்.

இனி என்ன? இனி தானே பூகம்பம் ஆரம்பம். இதற்குள் தனுஷ் ஹீரோயின் வெள்ளைக்காரப் பெண்ணை (உள்ளுர் தான்) காண்கிறார். காதல் கொள்கிறார். எதிர்பாராதத் திருப்பங்களுடன் இரண்டாவது பாதி நகர்கின்றது. திரையரங்கம் நிசப்தமாக அடுத்து நடக்கப்போவதை உற்றுப்பார்க்கிறது. அதை வெள்ளித்திரையில் பார்த்துக்கொள்ளுங்கள்.
கருப்பாக தனுஷ்.... திரை நடிப்பில் என்ன என்ன பரிமாணங்களும், கலைச்சொற்களும் உள்ளனவோ அத்தனைத் தலைப்பிலும் பாராட்டலாம் தனுஷை.... மெலிந்த உடலில் கணகச்சித உடல்மொழி, முகபாவனைகள்.... என்ன வேண்டும் என்று கேட்டு வழங்குகிறார் (இத்தனைக்கும் ரியாக்ஷனுக்கு டைமிங் சலுகைகள் கூட சீன்களில் ரொம்ப குறைச்சல்!) முக்கியமாக வசன வெளியீடும், மாடுலேஷனும்.. தனக்குப் பரிச்சயமில்லாத மதுரைத் தமிழில் தனுஷ் காட்டியிருக்கும் சகஜம் அவரை 'நடிகன்' என்று அழுத்திப் பதியவைக்கிறது.
தபசி அழகு! நடிக்க வாய்ப்பில்லாவிட்டாலும் ஒளிரும் உதடுகளும் அதில் முத்துப்பற்களைப் பதித்துப் பேசும் தமிழுமாய்ப் பாத்திரத்தில் பொருந்துகிறார். (நல்லவேளை த்ரிஷா நடிக்கவில்லை..!)

சேவல் சண்டை பஞ்சாயத்தில் இன்ஸ்பெக்டர் ரத்தினத்திடம் உறுமுவதாகட்டும்... தனுஷை விட்டுக் கொடுக்காமல் கிஷோரிடம் பேசுகின்ற காட்சியிலும், இன்ஸ்பெக்டரை நேரில் பார்க்கப் போய் உன் செல்வாக்கை நிரூபிச்சிட்டீல்ல என்று பொருமித் தள்ளுவதாகட்டும்.. தனுஷ் ஒவ்வொரு முறையும் ஜெயிக்கின்ற போதெல்லாம் தனது ஆற்றாமையை ஒதுக்கிவைத்துவிட்டு நான் வளர்த்த பையனாச்சே.. விவரம் தெரியாமயா இருந்திருப்பான் என்று விரோதத்தைத் தேனில் குழைத்துப் பேசுகின்ற அந்தப் பேச்சாகட்டும்.. மனைவியை சந்தேகப்பட்டு பேசுகின்ற வில்லன் பேச்சின்போது நாம எழுந்து அடித்துவிடலாமா என்கிற லெவலுக்கு இவரது கேரக்டர் ஸ்கெட்ச் மனதில் ஒட்டிப் போய்விட்டது.. சபாஷ் கவிஞரே!
தனுஷுடன் வரும் அந்த கருப்பு நண்பன், அவரை 'கில்லி' படத்தில் விஜய்யின் கபடி குழுவில் பார்த்திருப்பீங்க.. திடீர், திடீரென்று டிரான்ஸ்லேஷன் செய்வதற்காக உதவியாளராக இருக்கின்றபோது நகைக்க முடிகிறது. அவருக்கு நல்ல வாய்ப்பு இது. உயிருக்குயிரான தம்பியாகப் பழகி பட்டென நட்பு உடைந்து மோதலுக்குத் தயாராக இருக்கும் அண்ணனாக கிஷோர்.. இவரது வேகத்தைப் பார்த்து உடன் இருந்து ஒத்து ஊதும் பேட்டையப்பனை கடைசிவரையில் புரிந்துக் கொள்ளாத வகையில் திரைக்கதையை அமைத்திருக்கிறார் வெற்றிமாறன்.

தபசியுடனான காதல் திணிக்கப்பட்ட விஷயம் என்கிற ஒன்றுதான் கதையில் உறுத்துகிறதே தவிர, மற்றபடி கதை நீட்டாக ஹைவேஸில் பயணிக்கும் ஆம்னி பஸ் போலத்தான் அலுங்காமல், குலுங்காமல் போயிருக்கிறது. இடைவேளைக்குப் பின்னான காட்சிகள் இறுக்கமாக இருப்பதால் ரசிகர்களின் ஆரவாரம், எதிர்பார்ப்பு எல்லாம் புஸ்ஸாகிப் போன நிலையில்தான் இருந்தார்கள். ஆனாலும் கதையின் முடிவைக் காண அனைவரும் ஆவலோடு காத்திருந்ததால், அந்த டெம்போ குறையாத அளவுக்குத் திரைக்கதையைக் கொண்டு போயிருந்ததால் படம் தப்பித்தது என்று நினைக்கிறேன்..
தனுஷ் இது போன்ற படங்களைத் தேர்வு செய்து நடித்தால் அவருக்கும் நல்லது. நமக்கும் நல்லது என்று சொல்லும் அதே நேரத்தில் இன்னொரு விஷயத்தையும் சொல்லித்தான் ஆக வேண்டும். படத்தில் மிக மோசமான விஷயம் ஒன்றே ஒன்று.. அது ஒலிப்பதிவு.. பாதி வசனங்கள் கேட்க முடியாத அளவுக்கு இருந்தது ஏன் என்று தெரியவில்லை.. சென்னையில் இருக்கும் அதி நவீன தியேட்டர்களிலேயே முடியவில்லை என்றால் தமிழ்நாட்டின் மற்றப் பகுதிகளில் எந்த லட்சணத்தில் இருக்கும் என்பதையும் யோசிக்க வேண்டும்.
சமீப காலமாக வெளி வந்த முக்கியமான திரைப்படங்களிலெல்லாம் ஒலிப்பதிவு மிக மோசமாகத்தான் இருந்தது.. அதுவொரு ஸ்டைல் மாதிரி ஆக்கிவிட்டார்களோ என்னவோ.. நல்லவேளை தபசிக்கு ஆண்ட்ரியா குரல் கொடுத்திருக்கிறார் என்பதால் அந்தப் பொண்ணு கொஞ்சம் பிழைத்துப் போனது.. மற்றபடி இது ஒரு முக்கியப் பிரச்சினை.. தீர்க்க வேண்டியது இயக்குநர்களின் கடமை.

கடந்த 5 ஆண்டுகளில் இந்த சம்பவங்கள், வாரம் தவறாமல் நடக்கின்ற கொடுமையாகி விட்டது. தமிழக மீனவர்கள் வேதனையால் துடித்து எண்ணற்ற முறை போராட்டங்கள் நடத்தியும், காங்கிரஸ் தலைமையிலான இந்திய அரசும், தமிழ்நாட்டில் தி.மு.க. அரசும், மீனவர்களைப் பாதுகாக்க உரிய நடவடிக்கை எடுக்கவில்லை.


இந்திய அரசு, இலங்கை அரசுக்கு எச்சரிக்கை விடுத்து இருந்தால், தாக்குதலை தடுக்க வேண்டிய தக்க நடவடிக்கைகள் மேற்கொண்டு இருந்தால் மீனவர்கள் கொல்லப்படுவதை தடுத்து இருக்கலாம், ஆனால் இந்திய அரசு கடமையை செய்யவில்லை. இலங்கை கடற்படையினரின் அட்டூழியங்களை நியாயப்படுத்துகின்ற வகையிலே இந்திய தலைமை அமைச்சரின் கருத்துகளும், மத்திய உள்துறை அமைச்சர் வெளிவிவகாரத்துறை அமைச்சர் ஆகியோரின் கருத்துகளும் அமைந்து உள்ளன.

அண்மையில் புதுக்கோட்டை மாவட்டத்தில் மீனவர் வீரபாண்டியன் சுட்டு கொல்லப்பட்டார். மீனவர் கண்ணீ­ர் உலர்வதற்கு உள்ளாகவே, புஷ்பவனம் மீனவர் ஜெயக்குமார், இலங்கை கடற்படையினரால் கொடூரமாக கொல்லப்பட்டதும், தமிழக மீனவர்கள் உள்ளத்தில் குமுறலையும், இனி நம் உயிர்களுக்கு பாதுகாப்பே இல்லை என்கின்ற கொந்தளிப்பையும் ஏற்படுத்தி உள்ளது.

A BJP-backed advocate filed a complaint against four former chief ministers, including S M Krishna (now foreign minister), before the Padmaraj judicial commission set up by the government to probe land scams.

Yeddyurappa has maintained he and his party haven't done anything that the previous JD(S) and Congress dispensations haven`t. The belligerent satrap then left for Delhi for talks with senior lawyers and national BJP leaders to decide the course of action on Sunday.

Yeddyurappa consulted a battery of top lawyers including those who have dealt with cases of former chief ministers Lalu Prasad (Bihar) and Virbhadra Singh (Himachal).

Advocate Vinod has sought a probe into denotification of lands during the tenure of former chief ministers H D Deve Gowda (1994-1996), Krishna (1999-2004), H D Kumaraswamy (2006-2007) and Dharam Singh (2004-06). The 630-page complaint, filed before the Padmaraj commission, lists denotification of land allotments during the tenure of the four ex-CMs.

Following a demand by the Opposition for a CBI probe into land allotments a few months ago, the state government constituted the commission to probe allotments and denotification by BDA and KIADB between 1995-2010.

In Delhi, Yeddyurappa met senior BJP leaders L K Advani and Arun Jaitley to explain his weeklong confrontation with the governor and also the success of Saturday bandh in Karnataka.

On Monday, a delegation of party MPs from Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, led by BJP central leaders, will meet President Pratibha Patil to complain against the governor and press her for his recall. Before leaving for Delhi on Sunday morning, Yeddyurappa told reporters in Bangalore that he would meet the party`s national leaders to discuss the political developments and also the "attitude of our governor". An aggressive CM also said he would fight the issue politically and legally.

Zvonareva was broken early in the first set and was down 2-4 before she recovered to win the next four games and take a close opening set. 

There were no such problems in the second as the world number two ran away with the match to wrap up a comfortable victory in only 76 minutes.

"I was happy at the way I was able to come back when I was 4-2 down in the first set," she said.

Zvonareva, 26, now meets another Czech player, Petra Kvitova, in the final eight following Kvitova's 3-6, 6-3, 6-3 win over Italian Flavia Pennetta.

"She's had a great run here and beaten Sam Stosur and now Flavia so I know how tough that match is going to be," Zvonareva said.

Zvonareva is looking to win her first Grand Slam title after finishing runner-up at Wimbledon and the US Open last year. 

The Russian, who has a chance to go to number one after the Open if results go her way, said she was improving every time she took to the Melbourne Park courts.

"I had a little bit of a slow start to the tournament but I have picked it up in every match," she said. "That's how you want it to be at a Grand Slam."

Zvonareva's win has ensured there has now been a Russian quarterfinalist at the Australian Open every year since 2003.

மதிமுக பொதுச்செயலாளர் வைகோ, பிரதமர் மன்மோகன் சிங்கை(22.1.2011) காலை, டெல்லி ரேஸ்கோர்ஸ் சாலையில் உள்ள பிரதமர் இல்லத்தில் சந்தித்தார். பத்து மணிக்கு சந்திப்பதற்கு நேரம் கொடுக்கப்பட்டு இருந்தது. ஆனால், 9.55 மணிக்கே அங்கு வந்த பிரதமர், வருகின்ற வழியில் வாயிலில் நின்று, வைகோவைக் கட்டி அணைத்து வரவேற்றார்.

"என்றைக்குத்தான் அவர்கள் ஒப்புக்கொண்டார்கள்? எப்போதுமே அவர்கள் பழியை வேறு யார் மீதாவதுதான் போடுகிறார்கள். சுடுவது அவர்களுக்கு வாடிக்கையாகி விட்டது. இந்திய அரசு அதைக் கண்டிப்பதே இல்லை. அதனால்தான், அவர்கள் இப்படித் திமிரோடு பொய் சொல்லுகிறார்கள்" என்றார் வைகோ. மேலும், "பிரதமர் அவர்களே, நீங்கள் இலங்கை அரசுக்கு எச்சரிக்கை செய்ய வேண்டும். இனி, தமிழக மீனவர்களைத் தாக்குவதை நிறுத்த வேண்டும்" என்றார்.

"இது தொடர்பாக, நான் தங்களைச் சந்திக்க விரும்புகிறேன்" என்று வைகோ கூறிய போது, "நாளைக் காலை (இன்று) 10 மணிக்குச் சந்திக்கலாம்" என்று பிரதமர் கூறினார். இதை தொடர்ந்து வைகோ இன்று காலை 10 மணிக்கு, பிரதமரை சந்தித்தார்.

There are two news about Niranjan. One is that he is debuting as a lyricist in Mankatha and the second is that he is the great grandson of Maha Kavi Bharathiar. Niranjan is an Ag Mark Chennai guy. Now he is staying in Hyderabad in connection with his studies. Niranjan is the son of the popular Carnatic singer Rajkumar Bharathi. Niranjan said that he use to scribble some poems in his school days and he started to write poems in his later days. He while speaking said,” After completing B E, I had worked in an IT concern for two and half years. I did not like it. So for the sake of security I am now studying M B A. My dream is to become a full time lyricist.

Many are telling that since I am a great grandson of Bharathiar, there will be comments if I write songs for cinema. I am blessed because I have come from the lineage of Bharathiar. Apart from this I should decide about my career. My long time dream is to write songs for cinema. What is wrong in that? But my only thing is that I will be careful that I should not spoil the image of my great grandfather in whatever field I choose. With regard to Mankatha, I had been meeting lots of people to get offers. I gave the compilations of the song written by me to Venkat Prabhu sir. In his younger days he used to play mirundhangam for my father’s concerts. Because of this I knew him and I was able to approach him. He said that we both can work.

After four months when he commenced the shooting of Mankatha, I got a call from him. He told me to be ready to write a song. I was in cloud nine. All of my close friends are ardent fans of Ajith. They started motivating me to write a wonderful song for Ajith through Facebook and phone. I told my dad about this. He gave his blessing and told me to keep in mind that he belongs to Bharathiar’s clan. The song which I have written for this film is that the hero and heroine will express their love in a decent way. Though Venkat Prabhu is a jolly person, he is a very strict person as far as work is concerned. He will not get satisfied until he gets the lines perfect. After some corrections, my song was okayed. Venkat Prabhu liked this song very much.”

Injured Venus battles through to third round at Australian Open

MELBOURNE: Venus Williams has recovered from an apparent upper thigh injury during a first-set tiebreaker to advance to the third round of the Australian Open with a 6-7 (6), 6-0, 6-4 win over Sandra Zahlavova.

Williams had just lost the tiebreaker when she went to her chair clutching her right side. She appeared to injure herself two shots earlier on a twisting two-hand backhand volley.

After receiving treatment from a trainer and taking a medical timeout, she returned to Rod Laver Arena with her upper right thigh taped and then dominated much of the remainder of the match.

In the fashion department, Williams was wearing a revealing peek-a-boo lattice-style top with a multicolored satiny short skirt.
